Connect CCTV cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, routers, computers and other network equipment with a CAT6A RJ45 Ethernet network cable.
Designed for high-speed networking, CAT6A supports 10Gbps Ethernet (10GBASE-T) over up to 100 metres when used as part of a compliant cabling channel, with performance specified to 500MHz. It is also backward compatible with 1Gbps and other lower-speed Ethernet networks.
Available in multiple lengths from 0.5m through to 50m, making these cables suitable for everything from short equipment connections to longer CCTV and network installations.
CAT6A Ethernet Cable for CCTV & Networking
A reliable Ethernet connection is critical for modern CCTV systems.
These CAT6A RJ45 network cables are ideal for connecting:
✔ IP security cameras
✔ PoE security cameras
✔ NVR recorders
✔ PoE switches
✔ Network switches
✔ Routers
✔ Wireless access points
✔ Computers and workstations
✔ NAS and network storage
✔ Smart TVs and media devices
✔ Other Ethernet networking equipment
For CCTV installations, Ethernet cabling provides a stable wired connection between cameras, PoE switches and NVRs without relying on Wi-Fi.
10Gbps Ethernet Performance
CAT6A is designed for high-performance Ethernet networking and supports 10GBASE-T up to 100 metres under the appropriate standards-compliant channel configuration. CAT6A is specified to 500MHz, double the 250MHz frequency rating associated with standard CAT6.
This makes CAT6A particularly useful for new networks where higher bandwidth and future expansion are important.
It can also be used with slower Ethernet equipment, including:
- 10Mbps Ethernet
- 100Mbps Fast Ethernet
- 1Gbps Gigabit Ethernet
- 2.5Gbps Ethernet
- 5Gbps Ethernet
- 10Gbps Ethernet
The actual connection speed is determined by the capabilities of the connected devices and the complete cabling installation.
CAT6A for PoE CCTV Cameras
CAT6A is an excellent choice for Power over Ethernet applications.
A single Ethernet cable can carry both network data and electrical power between compatible PoE equipment.
This makes Ethernet cabling ideal for:
PoE NVR → IP Camera
PoE Switch → IP Camera
PoE Switch → Wi-Fi Access Point
PoE Switch → Network Device
Using a suitable cable and compatible PoE equipment allows you to avoid running a separate power cable to each PoE camera.
For higher-power PoE applications, the complete installation including cable, connectors, patch panels and termination should be suitable for the required PoE specification.
RJ45 Connectivity
The cables use standard RJ45 Ethernet connectors, making them compatible with standard Ethernet network ports.
Simply connect the cable between compatible network equipment and establish the network connection.
They are suitable for common Ethernet networking applications including CCTV, computers, switches, routers and access points.
What is CAT6A Ethernet cable?
CAT6A, or Category 6 Augmented, is a high-performance twisted-pair Ethernet cabling standard designed for frequencies up to 500MHz and 10GBASE-T networking over a full 100m channel.
Does CAT6A support 10Gbps?
Yes. CAT6A is designed to support 10GBASE-T (10 Gigabit Ethernet) up to 100 metres under a compliant cabling installation.
Can I use CAT6A for CCTV cameras?
Yes. CAT6A is excellent for IP CCTV and PoE cameras. It provides the network connection between cameras, NVRs, PoE switches and other network equipment.
Can CAT6A cable carry PoE?
Yes. CAT6A cabling can be used for Power over Ethernet with compatible PoE equipment. The actual power capability depends on the PoE standard, cable construction, installation and connected equipment.
Is CAT6A better than CAT6 for CCTV?
Not necessarily for every CCTV system. A typical Gigabit IP camera can work perfectly well over CAT6 or even CAT5e. However, CAT6A provides greater bandwidth and is a better choice when you're installing new cabling and want 10Gbps capability and additional future-proofing.
Can I use CAT6A with a Gigabit network?
Yes. CAT6A is backward compatible with lower-speed Ethernet standards. Your devices will negotiate the highest speed supported by both ends of the connection.
What is the maximum length of CAT6A?
CAT6A supports 10GBASE-T over a 100m channel when the complete installation meets the relevant cabling requirements.
Does CAT6A work with Ubiquiti equipment?
Yes. CAT6A Ethernet cables can be used with compatible Ubiquiti switches, gateways, access points and other Ethernet equipment. The achievable link speed will depend on the Ethernet port on the particular device.
